Social Project

This video was done for Apple’s Instagram as part of a social effort to document interesting stories of people and places. This one took place a couple hours deep in the Arizona desert. The site is called “Biosphere 2” (Earth is Biosphere 1) and it was home to a series of environmental experiments. It was opened in 1991 as an experiment to see if humans could create a sustainable operation cut off from the outside world. Ultimately, the CO2 levels become unmanageable due to too much concrete at the base and along with other psychological issues, the team had to abandon the mission. It is now run and operated by the University of Arizona as a learning center and science lab where tests and experiments continue to be ran to learn more about our environment.
